Hyundai confirm development of new ‘Halo’ sports car

Added: 30 August 2018

Hyundai HALO Concept Model

Hyundai looks set to expand its performance division with the addition of a new Halo model. Having introduced the sporty N range, the South Korean manufacturer is proposing a standalone model to spearhead the transition.

Having introduced the i30 N Hatch and Fastback, Hyundai is fast looking to move toward a sportier dynamic, and the new model will be seen as pivotal to the development of the N brand.

Hyundai N Range to Expand

The company’s Vice President of high-performance and motorsport, Thomas Schemera, confirmed recently that the new Halo model is in the pipeline and also stated that both he and Hyundai engineering boss, Albert Biermann, are ‘interested in hot things’ - suggesting there may be more to follow.

There is still a lot of speculation about how Hyundai will deliver this new performance focused model. Will it be a two seater dedicated sports car or will the South Korean based firm decide that a sportier saloon could be the perfect introductory model for what looks to be a very exciting future.

Hyundai will also look to introduce N models for future revised models - so we can anticipate a performance version of the Next-Generation Hyundai i20 to hit our dealerships before long.

Although discussions are well under way, we are likely to be several years away from seeing a finished product in our showrooms, but we are ever closer to finding out what guise the new model will take.
