We Are Re-Opening For Business On 1st June

With the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday evening that the Lockdown Restrictions are being relaxed further, I am delighted to inform you that our Showrooms will be re-opening again for business on Monday 1st June. That means our Dealerships will be open for the following services:

• New Vehicles Sales
• Used Vehicles Sales
• Servicing, Repairs and MOT’s
• Parts
• Bodyshop

In order to manage the number of visitors in the dealerships at any one time, our preference would be a pre-arranged appointment, to allow us to fully prepare for your visit and arrange for the vehicle of interest to be sanitised prior to your arrival. However should you find yourself in the area without a pre-arranged appointment, please feel free to pop into the dealership and we will be more than happy to serve you as quickly and safely as possible.

I hope you share our confidence that we have taken every precaution to ensure the safest possible environment for you and our colleagues at our Dealerships. We have installed thermal imaging cameras at the entrance of most our showrooms, to detect if someone entering the building has an elevated temperature. There are also information banners displayed around the showroom for your attention. I respectfully ask you to take note of and abide by the Hygiene and Social Distancing guidelines described therein in order to ensure the comfort and safety of yourself and others within the facility.

COVID-19 Precautions

We thought it appropriate that we share with you the actions we have taken to ensure both your safety and that of our colleagues in this time of uncertainty whilst we can still service your requirements for both Sales and Aftersales at our dealerships.

Working with our manufacturer partners and taking the Best Practices from retailers from all spheres of business throughout the UK we have implemented a range of changes to how we operate to ensure we minimise the risk of infection from COVID-19 at any of our facilities. These changes range from how we physically work on your car to how we will interact with you.

On entering the showroom you will notice we have installed perspex protection screens at the Main Reception and Service Advisor desks to ensure the maximum possible protection for you and ourselves. All our customer-facing colleagues will wear gloves and we have processes in place to ensure regular and effective hand washing throughout the day for all colleagues. You will find hand sanitiser pump stations throughout the dealership for your use.

All customers cars booked in for servicing, warranty, routine maintenance, MOT’s or accident repair will have protection film wrap applied to the steering wheel, handbrake and gear selector by our technicians. Disposable paper mats will be put into the drivers footwell and plastic seat covers placed over any seat that might be used. On receipt of your car and before it is returned to you, we will run the engine and air conditioning system for a minimum of 3 minutes to ensure the vehicle is fully ventilated.

Richmond Motor Group COVID-19 Precautions - Vehicle Protection

Obviously, our technicians will be wearing face masks and Nitrile gloves while preparing and working on your car which will be disposed of once the work has been completed. Masks, gloves, covers and wrap will only be used once, there will be no risk of cross contamination between cars. All our technicians will go through a thorough process of sanitisation between jobs.

We have sourced extensive supplies of anti-bacterial / viral hand gels, sanitising fluids, sprays and wipes all of which meet the highest standards, in most cases NHS approved and proven to kill the COVID-19 virus.

Finally, we are re-configuring our showrooms by removing cars and expanding waiting areas and spacing sofas, chairs, reception desks etc in order to ensure we meet the Social Distancing guidelines.

Whilst it is impossible to guarantee a totally safe environment, it is beholden upon us all to ensure that every possible precaution and action is taken to minimise any risk we might be exposed to. To that end, we have consulted extensively and I am confident that we have adopted the very best practices and processes to create the safest possible environment possible.

Important Customer Update

Further to the guidance given by the Prime Minister yesterday evening, we have taken the difficult decision to implement restricted trading across our businesses.

All of the Showrooms within Richmond Motor Group will be closed with immediate effect!

Our Service Workshop departments will remain open to provide essential maintenance and MOT’s for our customers and key workers, ensuring that vehicles are kept safe and roadworthy within Government guidelines. During this time, the Collection & Delivery service will be unavailable. You will be able to contact us in the usual ways in regards to servicing, MOT and repairs.

Whilst our Showrooms may be closed, you can still visit our website and enquire through the usual channels via telephone and online. Our Sales departments will be responding remotely from the safety of their homes.

This is a decision that hasn’t been taken lightly, but one made with the wellbeing and safety of our employees and customers in what is a challenging time. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the help of the NHS and the key workers on the front line that work tirelessly to fight the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

When is Richmond Motor Group going to be fully operational?

We will be monitoring the situation very closely and will only re-open when we receive clear guidance from the Government to do so. The safety and wellbeing of our employees and customers is paramount and our biggest priority.

Would I be able to rearrange my Service and / or MOT booking?

During this difficult time we will be working using a reduced workforce prioritising all keyworkers as it is essential that they continue to be mobile to fight the spread of the virus. We also aim to be able to meet your own personal mobility needs and will continue to carry out routine safety and roadworthiness checks. Whilst working with reduced capacity we are aiming to honour all existing bookings.

My MOT expires soon, can I still drive my vehicle?

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, vehicles that are due their MOT on or after 30th March 2020 will have their MOT extended by 6 months but it must be kept in a roadworthy condition. Any vehicles due an MOT before that date must be tested as usual.

How do I protect the battery in my car whilst I'm unable to use it?

To help keep your vehicle ready for driving, please make sure you run your vehicle for at least 15 minutes each week - this will help maintain the battery functionality.

Do you have an order placed but not yet taken delivery?

We tried our best to deliver as many vehicles as possible before our temporary closure, however we appreciate that not all vehicles were able to be handed over to their new owners. We are very sorry but if you are one of the small number of customers affected, we will be in touch to arrange delivery of your vehicle when we can re-open safely.
