What is the MG4 Urban 2026?
The MG4 Urban 2026 is a totally different car from the MG4. It’s front-wheel drive, for starters, and built more around practicality and value than its namesake. It’s also much in at much larger than many city cars of the same price range. Take the boot, for example, which can fit eight carry-on suitcases compared to the Renault 5 and Hyundai INSTER, which only manage five and three, respectively. There’s also lots of rear legroom, enough for three adults in fact, but bear in mind that it might not be super-comfortable for long trips. You’ll also enjoy wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the MG4 Urban, as well as physical climate controls. So, it isn’t all touchscreen, which has all but become the norm in electric vehicles of the day. And, as opposed to the angular design of the MG4, the MG4 Urban 2026 is influenced by MG's Cyberster sports car, with slim LED headlights and a smoother, more fluid design.

In What Car?’s MG4 Urban review, it received the highest possible rating and was referred to as a "great option for anyone looking for a well-priced, family-friendly electric car." Which is high praise indeed.
And it’s not hard to see why when Euro NCAP awarded the MG4 Urban 5 stars, which included safety scores above 80% in all testing categories. The Renault 5 and Hyundai INSTER both scored 4 stars, with a very similar price point, for a bit of context. The Kia EV3 received a five-star safety rating, but it’s much more expensive than the MG4 Urban.

Both reach 10 to 80% charge in around 30 minutes on a rapid charger. They both use an LFP battery, too, which MG says can be charged to 100% daily without the degradation concerns that are fairly common for EV owners. So, good news in the charging department.
And finally, pricing for the MG4 Urban starts at £23,495, including a seven-year/80,000-mile vehicle warranty and an eight-year/100,000-mile battery warranty. You can expect to pay £25,495 for the Comfort Long Range model and £27,995 for the Premium Long Range model as of early 2026.
This is really good value compared to other EVs, and it’s no surprise that it’s among the best MG electric cars on the market.
