Charging solutions

The Motability Scheme offers two charging solutions for customers leasing their first fully electric car: a home charging point with standard installation at no extra cost, or a subscription to the bp pulse on-the-go charging network for the lease duration. Customers can choose one of these options when applying.

Charging at home

If this is your first fully electric car on the Motability Scheme and your property is suitable for home charging, the Motability Scheme will arrange and cover the cost of a home chargepoint and a standard installation.

You’ll need to have off-street parking next to your home, like a driveway or garage. You’ll also need permission if you do not own your home or it’s a freehold flat or a leasehold.


Charging on the go

If you cannot get a home chargepoint and it’s your first fully electric car on the Motability Scheme, they will offer you a subscription to the bp pulse network.

Most electric car drivers need to charge on the public network from time to time, even if they have home charging. There are nearly 70,000 chargepoints across the UK.
