Chery has launched a manufacturer-backed Approved Used programme in the UK, and Richmond Motor Group is part of it. If you are looking at a used Chery from our Bognor Regis or Southampton showrooms, you can now choose a car that has been inspected and prepared to Chery’s own standard, with at least two years of warranty cover included.
Chery cars have been on sale in the UK only since summer 2025, so the brand’s used market is new. Approved Used gives buyers a manufacturer standard to judge a second-hand Tiggo by, as approved schemes from longer-established brands already do.
How a car qualifies for Chery Approved Used
Chery opened the programme in October 2026 across its UK retailer network, which has now reached 100 sites. A car can only join the scheme if it has a full Chery service history and falls within the programme’s age and mileage limits of under 5 years old from registration and below 60,000 miles.
Each car then undergoes an inspection of more than 120 points, covering mechanical, safety, electrical, and cosmetic checks, plus a road test. Only once it has passed does it go through preparation for sale and onto the forecourt as an Approved Used car.
What comes with an Approved Used Chery
- A minimum of two years’ warranty cover on every Approved Used car.
- Any remaining manufacturer warranty, which stays with the car. Chery covers new cars for up to seven years or 100,000 miles, and where that cover runs longer than the two-year used warranty, the next owner keeps it.
- A battery health certificate on Super Hybrid models, confirming a minimum battery state of health of 90%.
- £350 of insurance excess cover.
Because the brand is so new to the UK, almost every used Chery on sale today still has most of its factory warranty left. A car first registered in 2025 can carry manufacturer cover until 2032, subject to the 100,000-mile limit and Chery’s servicing requirements.
Why the battery certificate matters on a used hybrid
Every model in Chery’s current UK range is available with the brand’s Super Hybrid powertrain, and on any used hybrid the condition of the high-voltage battery is a fair question to ask. The certificate gives you a measured figure for the battery’s condition at the point of sale, so you are not relying on the age of the car or a seller’s description.
The battery also has its own manufacturer warranty of eight years or 100,000 miles from new, which runs separately from the main vehicle warranty.
