Geely Portsmouth is sponsoring Fareham’s Big Weekend, the town’s two-day summer celebration taking place on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July. The sponsorship marks one of the first major community moments for the new showroom on Newgate Lane, and it puts the brand in front of thousands of local families at the largest free event in the town’s calendar.
For a dealership that opened its doors in April 2026, backing an event of this scale is a deliberate statement. Geely Portsmouth is a Fareham business, and Fareham’s Big Weekend is the town’s own event. Supporting it is a way of introducing the brand to the local community on home ground, rather than through advertising alone.
What’s on across the weekend
Fareham’s Big Weekend runs from 10am to 4pm on both days, spread across Fareham Town Centre and nearby locations including Bath Lane Recreation Ground, Fareham Leisure Centre, Fareham Live, Fareham Shopping Centre, West Street and the Civic Garden area. The programme brings together partner organisations from across the town for a packed weekend of community, culture and leisure.
Visitors can expect a wide range of free and low-cost activities. Highlights include:
- Live music, dancing and street performers
- Cricket matches, lawn games, mini golf and padel tennis
- An artisan and farmer’s market, plus food and drink
- A splash pad and inflatable pool sessions
- Bubble shows, funfair rides and a pop-up military heritage museum
Most activities sit within easy walking distance of one another, with event signage and volunteer marshals on hand to help people find their way.

A new name moving fast
Geely arrived in the UK in October 2025 and has expanded quickly, building towards a national network of 100 dealers by the end of 2026. The brand leads with the EX5, a five-seat electric SUV, alongside the Starray EM-i Super Hybrid, giving buyers both a full-electric and a plug-in hybrid option from the outset.
The timing matters. Chinese brands accounted for more than a tenth of all new vehicle registrations in the UK in the first quarter of 2026, up from around six per cent a year earlier, and their combined sales have moved ahead of Volkswagen, long the country’s biggest single brand. By bringing Geely to Newgate Lane, Geely Portsmouth is putting one of the fastest-growing parts of the market on the doorstep of drivers across Fareham and the surrounding area.

Fareham Train Station is around a ten-minute walk from the town centre, and the bus station sits on West Street in the heart of the town.
