In partnership with Portsmouth Football Club, Richmond MG organised an exciting competition to win an all-expenses-paid away day to watch Oxford United vs Portsmouth FC on Saturday 22nd February for four people. Mark Wield, a huge Portsmouth fan of many years, was the lucky winner of the main prize!

The day started with a complimentary breakfast at the Village Hotel Portsmouth, where Mark was joined by his son, brother, and best friend. They were then chauffeured to the Kassam Stadium in a brand new MG HS Plug-in Hybrid, arriving an hour and a half prior to kick-off to allow them to soak up the unique away day atmosphere.

A surprise meeting with Manager John Mousinho was arranged an hour prior to kick-off, which was met with great appreciation. Mark remarked, “The atmosphere before the game was electric, and meeting John was an amazing surprise. To give up his time so close to kick-off was greatly appreciated.”

Pompey travelled to Oxford with only one away win under their belt, and they struggled to find a rhythm in the first half. However, two second-half goals secured a second win on the road to further pull away from the EFL Championship relegation places. Mark O'Mahony sealed the victory in stoppage time to send the Pompey fans back down the A34 with smiles on their faces.

The day was a memorable one, and Mark had the following to say: “Thank you to Richmond Motor Group, MG Motor UK, and Portsmouth Football Club for arranging a memorable experience! My 13-year-old son had been looking forward to it since we found out, and he still won’t stop talking about it now.”
The response we received upon launching the competition was overwhelming, and due to the sheer number of entries that were submitted, we introduced two signed shirts as runners-up prizes to say a huge thank you to everyone who entered.
